Program
Young children learn by doing. The preschool's hands-on teaching strategies and Christian curriculum help children acquire knowledge about their spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual and physical self. We offer a variety of activities appropriate to age and developmental readiness of students. Our program plan is on file and can be reviewed upon request.
We offer four classes. Each T-TH (3 and 4 year old) class is licensed for 20 students and each M-W-F (4 and 5 year old) class is licensed for 20 students. A qualified teacher and assistant teach each class.
DAILY SCHEDULE: The morning classes meet from 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. The afternoon classes meet from 12:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Each class includes the following activities:
Learning Center Time: Learning centers are set up to follow daily or weekly themes. Some typical learning centers are dramatic play, small motor, art, science and sensory table, computer and library.
Art: An art project is done each day related to the theme.
Group Time: This time is for reading stories, calendar, weather, music and movement.
Book Time: Children choose their own books to look at.
Snack: A nutritious snack is provided every day.
Outdoor and Large Motor Time: Games, parachute, balance beam, etc.
PETS: Occasionally we may have animals in to enhance the educational program. A written notice will be posted at least one day ahead of time so you will know that an animal will be present. If you want to bring a family pet to visit, please make advance arrangements with the teacher. For the safety of both the children and the animal, you will need to stay with the pet the entire time it is in the classroom.
FIELD TRIPS: Field trips are a fun and educational part of the preschool program. There will be field trips scheduled for the four-five year old class. You will be informed of the field trip in advance and asked to complete a written permission form for each trip. We use a school bus for transportation. Parent volunteers are needed to help. The preschool pays admission for all volunteers.
CONFERENCES: Two conferences will be scheduled during the school year for you to meet with the teacher and discuss your child's progress. The first conference will be a review of your child’s development and a chance to set goals. Additional conferences may be held as specific needs or concerns arise. The conference schedule is on the school calendar.
LICENSING: Christ Church Preschool holds a child care license through the Minnesota State Department of Licensing and is responsible for meeting and following it's guidelines and rules. Department of Human Services, 651-296-6117.
