Field Trip Goals

1. Experience riding on a bus.

2. Learn about safe, appropriate behavior on a bus.

3. Learn about the dynamic of going in a group-safety, listening skills, planning and time.

4. Assist the child to overcome any anxiety about learning experiences beyond the preschool classroom.

5. Enhance the child's concept about the larger community.


2007-2008 Field Trips

Four and Five Year Old Classes

October- Eastman Nature Center This field trip coincides with the unit on Fall. The children will visit the Nature Center and have a presentation with puppets by a Naturalist, go on a nature hike to search for assigned nature items, and observe specimens set up for observation indoors.

November- Cub Grocery Store. Coincides with unit on Healthy Eating. The children will visit various departments in the store such as the meat department and bakery and learn about the different types of food and work there is in a store.

January- Fire Department. Coincides with unit on How Do We Get There? The children will tour the fire station and trucks the firemen use to transport them to the fires and learn about safety equipment they need to protect themselves and put out fires.

March- In house presentation from parks department on owls. Coincides with our unit on birds and reptiles. The children will learn the fascinating and unique aspects of owls related to other birds, and have the oppertunity to observe a live owl close up.

April- Kelly Farm. Coincides with units on animals and plants and spring. Experience hands on activities on the farm that take place in the spring, and experience the way things were done in the past.
